Desiccator cabinet
The auto-desiccator cabinet features an adsorption/regeneration cycle for the silica gel desiccant. No desiccant tray is needed. The gel is contained in the control section, where it absorbs moisture to maintain a low (30-40%) relative humidity. The adsorption period lasts 4-1/2 hours, indicated by a green pilot light. After this period, the silica gel is regenerated for a 1/2 hour period, indicated by a red pilot light. After regeneration of silica gel, the cycle repeats. This desiccator cabinet is similar to the tall model (above), but designed in a horizontal configuration. 8 levels of shelf cleats allow for placement of 2 sets of shelf rails and 2 clear shelves with small vent holes. The door has a full gasket and 2 metal hinges, 2 latches, and a handle. Door frame inside dimensions are 17-7/8″ x 10″ high (45 x 25cm). Inside depth is 13-1/4″ (34cm). Overall dimensions are 14-3/4″ x 19-5/8″ x 13-3/4″ high (37 x 50 x 35cm). It includes desiccant tray.
Molded of methyl methacrylate, this desiccator cabinet offers a clear view of contents. Shelf cleats allow for 15 levels of placement. It includes 3 sets of shelf rails and 3 clear shelves with small vent holes. The door has a full gasket, 2 metal hinges, 2 latches, and a handle. Door opening is 10″ x 17-7/8″ high (25 x 45cm). Two gas ports added to the rear of the No. 2248 Desiccator Cabinet allow an atmosphere to be created that may be altered and maintained at any concentration desired. The gas ports, located at top and bottom, create a sweep of gas from the inlet through the outlet. The gas ports have leak proof 4mm stopcocks and the door has an excellent seal. It is useful for tissue culture work where a controlled carbon dioxide atmosphere is required or for flooding the chamber with nitrogen to eliminate oxygen.
