Low temperature dehumidifier
A humidifier is not universal; there is no one product that can actually accommodate for all kind of use. That is the reason why there are many different variants of product available in the market to suit different customers.
For humidifier, it is not an exception. When the temperature is very low, a special dehumidifier is required to run at its optimum performance. Therefore, a low temperature humidifier will definitely come in handy in this case.
The theory behind this phenomenon is the icing up in the traditional compressor based machine. When the air inside the dehumidifier is cooled, water vapor among the air gets condensed and causes inefficiency. Experiments show that ambient temperature of 15oC or lower would cause the water vapor in the compressor to freeze.
Some data explains that a typical machine which is made capable to extract 16 litres per day at 30oC ambient temperature will only extract approximately 3 litres per day when it is operated at ambient temperature of 10oC. You can see how critical it is the ambient temperature that affects the efficiency of a dehumidifier.
Therefore, to solve this problem, a hot gas defrost system is added to a compressor based dehumidifier or an absorption based machine. By bringing up the temperature of water vapor inside the compressor, it won’t freeze during the compression process, thus eliminate icing phenomenon possibility.
An example of dehumidifiers that have such technology embedded is the Mitsubishi Electric machines. These machines are equipped with hot gas defrost, a specially tailored low temperature mode and also auto restart function after a power cut. Hence, these machines can be left unattended operating at the desired location.
The X-Dry, Delonghi CNS65 and DD122FW are yet other examples of dehumidifiers, but absorption based. With the absence of compressor, there is generally no way for the water vapor inside the machines to freeze up, causing problem during the operation. This type of setup also reduces the noise level, weight and the most important is the price. This type of dehumidifier is able to maintain its efficiency regardless of ambient temperature.
Therefore, when buying a dehumidifier, one of the most important factors that need to take into account is the ambient temperature. Spending some time checking every factor worth every penny you spend.
