Peltier dehumidifier

Peltier dehumidifier is also known as thermoelectric dehumidifier as it operates based on the thermoelectric cooling mechanism. The humidifier is made up of a heat pump, which consists of two different metals. When electricity passes through the metals, heat will be transferred from one metal to the other, resulting in a cooling effect on one side. The cold metal will condense moisture from the humid air on its surface. The moisture will then be drained to a reservoir within the dehumidifier.

The operation does not involve any physical movement of the parts, therefore the device will be noise and vibration free. This is an important point to consider when you need a quiet dehumidifier in your home, rather than the noisy compressor dehumidifier.

The Peltier dehumidifier has a compact size with a light weight, weighing only at around 3 pounds. It is portable and can be conveniently placed at the corners of your wardrobe or room. Most advanced features are also incorporated in this dehumidifier despite its petite size.  These features include auto shut off when the reservoir is full with water. The indicator light will also light up for warning to remind you to discard the collected water.

There are few limitations in a Peltier dehumidifier. The appliance should not be used when the temperature is less than 15°C as a lower temperature may affect its operation and it can only manage to remove about 6% of the surrounding humidity. Due to its simple mechanism and small construction, it cannot extract more than 1 liter of water per day. Most models can remove between 10 and 20 ounces of water only a day. Therefore, this is a dehumidifier suitable for very light duty in a small area. The coverage of this petite dehumidifier rarely extends  beyond a bathroom or a closet.
