Water absorbing polymer
The first time I saw this water absorbing polymer was used as a soil to the plant. It holds the plant in the pot without the need the watering the plant. How does it work?
The water crystal is a type of polymer, namely polyacrlyamide, they are capable of absorbing a large amount of water. It can carry up to more than 400 times of water content bigger than its weight. Quite amazing, right? It means the size of the original polymer granule, which is about 2mm in diameter can be expand to a 10 times larger size as compare with the original size.
This type of polymer has a wide usage like cool pads, watering the indoor plants, horticulture, evaporative cooling, absorbent pads, soil erosion, and absorbent roll. As mentioned, these water absorbing crystals mix with the soil, the mixture can be used for soil moisturizing and as a watering controlling agent for the plant. The best part of the crystals is they can release the water absorbed in the crystal gradually to the soil which gets dried up due to the plant utilizes the water and nutrients in the soil.
